What Mobbu does

Mobbu designs, develops and delivers mobile and internet data services for the government/PPP, B2B and consumer markets. We are a team that loves making technology and services that work for both our customers and the people that use them.

We work with customers to identify and deliver solutions, and our activities range from system design and operational planning through to project management, deployment and training. We deliver IT, mobile data and compliance projects, and our customers are security, logistics and service companies, mostly in the UK.

Mobbu is a privately-owned company based in Brighton and London, and has onshore and offshore development teams.

Solutions for people

The solutions we deploy:

1. provide staff in the field with user-friendly applications such as daily task-lists
2. allow data and operations centres to dynamically update tasks by pushing data to users, with real-time MIS
3. and provide the customer with operational cost-savings.

As with all new technology projects, the platform and technology are only part of the solution, and Mobbu has considerable experience in working closely with the organisation on user engagement, training and change management issues in order to deliver the whole solution. (In short, if your people don’t see the benefit of your new project, then it’s unlikely to succeed.)

Mobbu and mobile

Currently many of Mobbu’s mobile projects are being delivered on the BlackBerry platform: it’s a proven solution in the corporate environment. Its strengths can be summarised as real-time data availability, accuracy, security, full redundancy and, uniquely, an asynchronous/synchronous data delivery environment.

However, we remain open and agnostic: our solutions are designed so that you’re not locked-in – in future you may need to replace a handheld device (or other part of the platform) with something new. We’re ready for that.

Solutions and technology

We offer a full service: interaction design, development, delivery, and service management. Mobbu can deliver public-facing websites, intranets and extranets, BlackBerry data solutions and software, SMS, picture-messaging, video-on-mobile, IVR, speech recognition systems. We glue mobile services to the web so that customers can track, manage and update them more easily. Often our projects involve integration to existing customer and third-party systems and data sources. Our work has included logistics management over web and mobile devices for the security sector, content delivery for entertainment businesses, and collaboration tools for online communities.

That our solutions actually work is more important than the raw technology, but here’s how we usually approach the technology side: we like object-oriented PHP and/or JSP, and Java/EJB, on MySQL on Linux, but we’ll choose technologies and methods that fit the project and the customer. We deliver content to web, mobile devices and other platforms. We speak XML. We like making accessible sites and services.
