Software and hardware equipment requirements
Mobbu’s Mobile Field Operations (MFO) Covert Policing is a real-time briefing pack and text/image messaging platform for mobile phones and Command and Control centres. It is sold under a Product Licence and a full product description is available at www.mobbu.com/mfo.
It comprises a mobile application, an admin/management website, middleware and a SQLServer database. It runs on RIM’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server. A typical installation is installed inside a customer’s private network:
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server on a Windows server:
- BES Server version 4.1.2 for MDS or later and .NET 1.1 is the preferred platform. Alternatively MFO will also run on a customer’s existing BES for exchange/domino/MDS platform.
- MFO admin/management website and middleware on a second Windows server:
- Windows2003 server with .NET 2 with the .NET 3.5 extension and with latest service pack applied, IIS6, ASP.NET, and AJAX 2.0
- We suggest that the hardware is: dual Intel Xeon 3.08 GHz processors, minimum 2GB RAM, 1GB LAN, 2 hard disks (e.g. 120GB SATA hard drives) in a RAID1 to allow hot swap
- SQLServer database on (optionally) a third Windows server:
- SQLServer2000 or SQLServer2005
- We suggest that the hardware is: dual Intel Xeon 3.08 GHz processors, Minimum 2GB RAM, 1GB LAN, 2 hard disks (e.g. 120GB SATA hard drives) in a RAID1 to allow hot swap
- Devices: MFO Covert Policing runs on all BlackBerry devices that are assured by CESG, and where possible we aim to maintain support for all current BlackBerry devices. The customer will need to provide the devices with data plans and any local security policies set up.
Notes:
- in some cases we may discuss alternate infrastructural options with you.
- none of the equipment listed here is included in our MFO Covert Policing quotations unless explicitly stated.
Installation and setup
Before MFO Covert policing is installed:
- The customer will need to have BlackBerry devices, BES servers and data plans set up before installation can take place (or Mobbu can undertake some of these activities for the customer on a professional services basis).
- The customer may also need to have various security policies in place for Mobbu to perform the installation: both on servers, firewalls, etc, and also for our team to access buildings.
Installing MFO Covert Policing:
- Mobbu will help the customer install the MFO application on the devices, and install the middleware and admin/management website on the customer’s servers.
- Once MFO has been installed and tested, Mobbu will send the customer a release installation note detailing what was installed, tested and certifying that it runs successfully as of that date.
